FLY FISHING INSTRUCTION
First Cast: Fly Casting Fundamentals
A relaxed, guided introduction to fly fishing—no experience required.
New to fly fishing, or curious to try it before investing in equipment? This two hour casting lesson offers a clear, structured introduction to the fundamentals in a relaxed, supportive setting.
We’ll begin at the bench, where I’ll cover the basics of the fly rod and reel, fly line, leaders, and common fly types, along with a couple of essential knots to get you rigged correctly. From there, we’ll move to the grass/water and focus on casting. Fly casting can feel challenging at first, but with simple instruction and individual coaching, it comes together quickly. My goal is for you to leave with the skills and confidence to fish on your own.
Session details:
• 2 hours total
• Approximately 45 minutes at the bench
• Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes on the water
• No prior experience or equipment required
